Mordheim: City of the Damned game play sakven

Mordheim: City of the Damned – The Playening

I have got a bit of time on Mordheim: City of the Damned in the last few weeks (as close to hobby time as I can get at the moment!). In a fit of enthusiasm, I’ve even recorded a couple of sessions and dumped them up on my YouTube channel.

I’m still excited about the game, I think it translates well from the table top to the PC. The move mechanics are pretty cool without being overly complex and so is the fighting. I’m still trying to figure out the details of the game without a manual as it’s fun to hack and slash humans with some Skaven.

There are only so many times that you can Skirmish with the prebuilt warbands though. Giving us the ability to build our own warbands and advance them would add to the experience. Also, additional warbands apart from human and Skaven would give the game some more repeat playability. Although the game is on Steam Early Access, I would have thought it would be closer to the finished product by now and it’s the most obvious limiting factor (apart from what on earth the Black Hunger does!!)

  • I played through the tutorials and thought it was great. I also played one skirmish but without the more defining factors of the game in place (warband creation, progression, etc), I’ve set it aside for the moment. I have no doubts that the polished version of this game is going to be amazing and I can’t wait.

    • I reckon we’re in the same boat at the moment. Setting it aside seems to be the best option until there us a bit more polished finish.
