Dark Eldar on the way

WAY back in 1998 Warhammer 40000 3rd edition was released. In the core box set were two forces; Space Marines and a new race … the Dark Eldar. For the astute amongst us, that was nigh on twelve odd years ago! The “second edition” of the rule book was released in 2003, but the changes were not especially consequential. Certainly the ability to have a Wych army was a pretty major change.

The weird thing about the Dark Eldar is that they still seem part of the mythology; the Dark Eldar featured pretty heavily in the Soulstorm expansion for the Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War game!

However, rumours flying around (some more ridiculous than others) the internet seem to be indicating that the new Dark Eldar army book could be released as early as October 2010!

The latest confirmation of the date seems to be coming from a number of sources, including podcasts the likes of Dice Like Thunder.

Long time Dark Eldar players know by now not to get their hopes up when news of the elusive new codex arises but this latest development looks the most promising yet.

So, work will continue (pictures to come soon, I promise) and MAYBE there will be a new codex for the Dark Eldar before the year is through.

The Dark Eldar are piratical raiders who live to capture and torture victims purely for the enjoyment of it … and Games Workshop employs game developers 🙂
