The VICC (Victorian Inter-Club Challenge) was first run in 2010 and the premise behind it is to give the Clubs that support the community and opportunity to put together teams to proudly represent their Club. VICC is one of the few tournaments in Melbourne that run multi-system; Warhammer 40000, Warhammer and WarmaHordes.
In the last few months I have been doing time at the Hampton Games Club and was drafted into playing for them in the Warhammer 40,000 event. Historically, Hampton has always had a really strong presence in the Warhammer Fantasy tournament scene, however, they also play Warhammer 40,000.
VICC Warhammer 40000 follows an interesting format whereby teams of four, with an optional fifth player who can be subbed in, fight it out against another Club. The two day event sees one vs. one matches and the second day is two vs. two.
VICC will be held in the Glenn College, La Trobe University, Bundoora campus (Melways Map X873 G7). VICC 40k will be held in the Airport Lounge, upstairs from the dining hall in the main building of Glenn College. Catch Tram Route 86 (Burke Street) to stop 60 with a 15 minute walk to the Room.
Take Bus Route 250 (from Flinders Street) to La Trobe University and stop at the David Myers Building (the first stop past the boom gates). Parking in Carpark 6 for those that drive, which is free on the weekends.
After my awesome showing at Arcanacon, I have decided that mech rules and retooled my Arc list significantly by adding in Rhino and experimenting with Meltagun armed Chosen who will hopefully outflank the snot out of my opponents and deliver some tank-meltration deep in their end zone. Whurd. Five guys with Meltaguns is hard for anyone to ignore.
The rest of the list is here: http://cmdctr.net/lists/774
As you can see, I’ve decided that Typhus deserves a second chance and added a Daemon Prince with Wings and Mark of Nurgle.
Since Games Workshop FAQ’d Warptime, I’m not conviced it’s worthwhile now.
Deepstrike Typhus and two Obliterators and run the Daemon Prince behind the cover of a Rhino or two, hopefully giving him cover enough to get close enough for combat with something squishy.
VICC is on the 24th and 25th March, so there’s a bit of time to do some playtesting. Unfortunatley, the list is already submitted, so if this turns out to be a loser I’ll just have to live with it!
